DCist!!!

Hey everyone! Happy rainy Thursday if you’re in the Washington DC region. Grr rain!

Anyways, today is definitely one the happiest days of my life. And I’m not over reacting! Today I received an email from Heather Goss of DCist in response to an email that I sent her a few days ago. In the original email I asked if it would be possible to get a mention in the Arts Agenda section of the DCist blog and guess what, I got a mention! Here’s the little bit about me:

We love to hear about budding local photographers, like high school junior Joel Carela, who emailed us about his first solo show at the Latin American Youth Center’s Art + Media House on 14th and Columbia Streets NW. You can see his work at the gallery throughout May and find more online at his Flickr site. We expect to see him in DCist Exposed very soon. Now, I know this post may seem a bit egotistical but this is really awesome. Not only because I was mentioned, but also because I LOVE DCist. And I’m not just saying that to kiss up! I really love reading DCist. And if you haven’t checked them out.

Peace.

Things are looking up.

I guess.

By Tuesday, I’ll have all my photos hung up in the corner gallery. I can’t wait! This will be my first solo exhibition. The photos are just a few of my favorites and I can’t wait to show them off. I hope people like it!

For those in DC, the gallery is at the corner of 14th and Columbia road in Columbia Heights. Next to the 7 Eleven. Check it out my localites.

Ciao.

Socialist for a Day

Today I spent my day marching to the Pentagon with a bunch of anti-war protesters. The march started at 23rd and Constitution and moved on the Pentagon. It was crazy but I enjoyed every minute of it! I got to meet two enthusiastic photographers, one of which had the same camera as me. We were twins! But the funniest thing that happened to me today is when I finally figured out who I was marching with. Read the rest of this entry »

The inaguration is way over!

The deconsturction of the inaguration stands.

The deconstruction of the inauguration stands.

I don’t understand why it’s taking so long. I mean I don’t really care but seriously? If it’s taking forever to bring this down because it was complex to put together, than don’t build something so hard again!

Has anyone been down by the White House lately? Is this an eye sore or are you like “whatever!”?
